Hello , I’m a 21 year old female and recently I was diagnosed with Fibroadenoma , however the doctors weren’t sure as I only did ultrasound . They asked me to do mammography for further confirmation . I’m very worried that it could be cancer since I have family history with it . Is mammogram accurate in my case ? or should I straight up do biopsy ? And is biopsy the same as FNA test ? thank you so much
Greetings,,
Actually in your case you should do both… mammography in young age is not that accurate due to the nature of breast composition being difficult to be distinguished from the abnormal growth forms.
but it has to be done though for other diagnostic purposes
it is better to be confirmed with the biopsy.
it is called fine needle aspiration biopsy and it is a one of multiple types of biopsies
this is the most rapid ,simple and widely used one of them in diagnosing breast masses.
