Good morning, I would like to thank you for your great effort I really find your page helpful and informative. I would like to ask about a dental issue if possible. 8 days ago I performed a root canal and the doctor placed a temporary filling to be replaced by a permanent one after one week and then I would be ready for the crown. but unfortunately 2 days later I began to feel a swelling under my tooth with an unbearable pain and a sore throat , I returned to my doctor and he said I got infected !! I was prescribed megamox 1 gm I took it for a few days with no result I went back to my doctor for the second time and he removed the fillings to give the tooth a free space to cure the infection but again in vain !! I repeated the previous step twice and now I feel terrible whenever the doctor place the filling the symptoms come back , I wonder if I have to extract the tooth or is it still curable ?? and could the infection affect my body ?
Thank you
Greetings,,
there are two possibilities in this case… it’s either the type of the filling or the instruments used by the dentist need to be changed, or ther is an actual problem with the root itself that needs to has its time to be cured “few days aren’t enough for megamox to completely eradicate the infection”
if he was placing the filling on top of uncompletely cured infection it will flare up again for sure.
my advice is to give the drug its time to work “not less than 10 days” and try it again.
If the filling can’t fit as U r saying due to the recurrent infections he’ll have to extract the tooth unfortunately .
